PTSD & TRAUMA CARE

PTSD and trauma treatment in Redlands and across California

Care with Fady Boules, PMHNP-BC — a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Trauma is not a weakness, and PTSD is not a failure to move on. It is what can happen when the mind and body keep responding to danger long after the danger has passed.

It rarely looks like the movies. For many people it is broken sleep, a short fuse, and a life quietly arranged around what to avoid. It is treatable, and you do not have to tell every detail of what happened in order to start.

Leave a message — a team member calls you back the same business day, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Calls after 5 PM, on weekends, or on holidays are returned the next business day.

If you are in crisis right now, please don't wait for a callback. Call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (free, 24/7), text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line, or go to your nearest emergency room. If someone's life is in immediate danger, call 911.

Here in the Inland Empire—in person at our Redlands psychiatric office, or by secure telepsychiatry from anywhere in California—we take the time to understand what you are living with now, at a pace you set, and build a treatment plan that fits.

Signs of PTSD & trauma

Is this what you're experiencing?

PTSD does not always arrive right after the event, and it does not look the same in everyone. Does any of this sound familiar?

It Keeps Coming Back
Memories, images, or dreams of what happened arrive uninvited, and they feel closer to reliving than remembering.
A Life Arranged Around Avoiding
There are places, people, conversations, or feelings you steer around, and the list keeps getting longer.
Always on Guard
You scan every room, startle easily, and can't remember the last time your body fully relaxed.
A Short Fuse
Irritability or anger flares faster than it used to, and it is straining the people closest to you.
Numb or Far Away
You feel cut off from the people you love, or from yourself, as if you are watching your own life from a distance.
Nights Are the Hardest
Sleep is broken by nightmares, or you put off going to bed because of what the night brings.

If several of these feel familiar, it's worth having an honest conversation. Depression, anxiety, sleep problems, and substance use often travel with trauma, and they can look like one another. Part of a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is sorting out what is driving what, so the treatment plan actually fits.

Getting started

How our care works

  1. Start with a free call

Start with a free 15-minute call. No pressure and no commitment. You decide how much to say: you do not have to describe what happened to find out whether this practice is the right fit.

  2. A thorough first visit, at your pace

In our Redlands clinic or by secure video anywhere in California, we take our time. We take a careful clinical history, ask about sleep, mood, and safety, and look for other conditions that can travel with trauma. You leave with a clear picture and a concrete, actionable treatment plan.

  3. Ongoing care that adjusts to you

If medication is part of the plan, we choose it carefully, explain it, and fine-tune it based on exactly how you respond. Sleep and nightmares get their own line on the plan. We check in, adjust, and keep working together until life feels more like yours again.

Common questions

Questions patients ask

Are you a psychiatrist?

No—and it's a fair thing to ask. Your care here is provided by Fady Boules, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (an MD or DO). A PMHNP is an advanced-practice provider who specializes in mental health—trained and licensed to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe and manage psychiatric medications. Different training, same goal: careful, thorough psychiatric care.

Do I have to talk about what happened?

Not in detail, and not before you are ready. A psychiatric evaluation needs to understand how the trauma affects your life now: your sleep, your mood, your safety, your days. You set the pace for the rest.

Is PTSD treated with medication or with therapy?

Often both. Trauma-focused talk therapies carry the strongest evidence for PTSD. Two medicines are FDA-approved for PTSD in adults, and others are used when they fit. Visits here are for psychiatric evaluation and medication management. If therapy belongs in your plan, we talk through which kind to ask for by name and how to find it.

Do you accept IEHP or Medi-Cal?

Yes—we accept IEHP (Medi-Cal), Kaiser SoCal and most major plans. Coverage varies by plan, and intake verifies your benefits before your first visit. Have a different Medi-Cal plan? Call—we may still be in-network. If you are a self-pay patient, care is a straightforward $175 for the initial psychiatric evaluation and $75 for follow-up appointments.

How fast can I be seen?

Most new patients are scheduled and seen within the same week, either in person at our Redlands office or by secure video appointment anywhere in California.

Can PTSD care be done by video (telehealth)?

Yes—for most people, psychiatric evaluations and ongoing care work incredibly well via telepsychiatry across California. A few medications carry specific rules about how they can be prescribed by video, and we'll walk you through anything that applies to your specific treatment plan.

Do you see children and teens after trauma?

Yes. We see ages 5 and up. For children and teens, parents are part of the process from the very first call.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No referral is needed to get started. You can begin with a free 15-minute call, or request a callback and our office will reach out directly.
