INSOMNIA & SLEEP CARE
Insomnia and sleep treatment in Redlands and across California
Care with Fady Boules, PMHNP-BC — a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Sleep is rarely just sleep. When it breaks down, mood, focus, patience, and health tend to follow, and the harder you try to force it, the further away it gets.
Persistent insomnia deserves its own evaluation and its own treatment. It is not always only a symptom of something else, and a sleeping pill is not the only answer.
Leave a message — a team member calls you back the same business day, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Calls after 5 PM, on weekends, or on holidays are returned the next business day.

If you are in crisis right now, please don't wait for a callback. Call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (free, 24/7), text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line, or go to your nearest emergency room. If someone's life is in immediate danger, call 911.
Here in the Inland Empire—in person at our Redlands psychiatric office, or by secure telepsychiatry from anywhere in California—we take the time to find out what is actually keeping you awake, and build a treatment plan around the cause.
Signs of insomnia
Is this what you're experiencing?
Insomnia is more than a bad night. It is a pattern that starts to run your days as well. Does any of this sound familiar?
- Tired but Wired
- You are exhausted all day, and the moment your head touches the pillow your mind switches on.
- The 3 A.M. Wake-Up
- You fall asleep, then wake in the small hours and cannot get back.
- Dreading Bedtime
- The bed has become a place of effort and clock-watching instead of rest.
- Running on Fumes
- Your days are foggy, short-tempered, or flat, and coffee is doing most of the work.
- Pills That Stopped Working
- You have tried sleep aids, melatonin, or a nightcap. They helped for a while, or left you groggy, or you are afraid to stop.
- Sleep Changed With Your Mood
- The sleep trouble arrived with depression, anxiety, trauma, or a new medication, and you can't tell which came first.
If several of these feel familiar, it's worth an honest look. Insomnia often travels with depression, anxiety, trauma, and ADHD. Sleep apnea, restless legs, and some medications can also be behind it. Part of a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is working out which of these is in play, so the treatment plan actually fits.
Getting started
How our care works
-
Start with a free call
Start with a free 15-minute call. No pressure, no commitment, and no clinical jargon—just a chance to say what's going on and hear whether this psychiatry practice is the right fit.
-
A thorough first visit
In our Redlands clinic or by secure video anywhere in California, we take our time. We take a careful history of your nights and your days, review the medicines and substances that can disturb sleep, and screen for sleep apnea, restless legs, and mood conditions. You leave with a clear picture and a concrete, actionable treatment plan.
-
A plan that goes beyond a prescription
For chronic insomnia, guidelines recommend cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) as the first treatment for many adults. We explain how it works and how to get it. If medication is part of the plan, we choose it carefully, use it for a clear purpose, and review it regularly.
Getting ready for CBT-I? Start with the four-week, step-by-step guide, which comes with a free printable workbook and sleep diary.

Questions patients ask
Are you a psychiatrist?
No—and it's a fair thing to ask. Your care here is provided by Fady Boules, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (an MD or DO). A PMHNP is an advanced-practice provider who specializes in mental health—trained and licensed to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe and manage psychiatric medications. Different training, same goal: careful, thorough psychiatric care.
Will you just prescribe a sleeping pill?
No. Medication has a place, and we use it when it fits, for a clear purpose and with a plan for how long. For chronic insomnia, guidelines recommend CBT-I, a structured treatment, as the first step for many adults, and sleep hygiene tips alone are not the same thing. We look for the cause before choosing the treatment.
Do you treat sleep apnea or do sleep studies?
No. This is a psychiatric practice, not a sleep lab. If your history points to sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or another sleep disorder that needs testing, we tell you, and we explain what to ask your primary care doctor or a sleep specialist. We keep treating the mood, anxiety, and medication side of the picture.
Do you accept IEHP or Medi-Cal?
Yes—we accept IEHP (Medi-Cal), Kaiser SoCal and most major plans. Coverage varies by plan, and intake verifies your benefits before your first visit. Have a different Medi-Cal plan? Call—we may still be in-network. If you are a self-pay patient, care is a straightforward $175 for the initial psychiatric evaluation and $75 for follow-up appointments.
How fast can I be seen?
Most new patients are scheduled and seen within the same week, either in person at our Redlands office or by secure video appointment anywhere in California.
Can sleep care be done by video (telehealth)?
Yes—for most people, psychiatric evaluations and ongoing care work incredibly well via telepsychiatry across California. A few medications carry specific rules about how they can be prescribed by video, and we'll walk you through anything that applies to your specific treatment plan.
Can my child or teen be seen for sleep problems?
Yes. We see ages 5 and up. For children and teens, parents are part of the process from the very first call.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No referral is needed to get started. You can begin with a free 15-minute call, or request a callback and our office will reach out directly.
